Our Story: How BBW University Sisterhood Came to Life
BBW University Sisterhood didn’t start as a brand or a business plan, it started as a response. A response to the lack of real spaces for plus-size women to be seen, heard, and taken seriously.
Our founder wasn’t interested in surface-level inclusion or watered-down body positivity. She knew what it felt like to shrink in spaces that weren’t built for her. To be told confidence had a size limit. To search for sisterhood and find cliques instead.
So she built what she needed. And it resonated. What started as a vision quickly grew into a full-on movement, bringing together women from all backgrounds with one common goal: to grow, lead, and take up space without apology.
Why We Call It a "University"
Not because there are textbooks or grades, but because growth is the assignment.
At BBWU, we focus on elevation. That means mentorship, leadership, accountability, and a real sense of community. We’re learning from each other. We’re teaching each other. We’re building something that lasts.
From Sisterhood to Culture
As BBWU grew, so did the need for something more permanent...something visible.
Enter Curve Culture magazine. A natural extension of everything the sisterhood stands for. A place to publish our stories, feature our brilliance, and finally see ourselves on the page without apologies.
Where We’re Headed
BBW University Sisterhood is still growing, and we’re just getting started. With every new member, every shared story, and every page of Curve Culture, we’re building something deeper than a platform. We’re shaping a culture where full-bodied women lead.
